We’re proud to have some incredible clinicians in the organisation who are constantly working towards making a difference to the quality of patient care.

Here are some stories from a selection of them.

Claire Grant

Claire Grant - Healthcare Solution Specialist

Claire is a registered General Nurse and has worked in the NHS and various hospitals across the world for the last 31 years. She was a CNIO at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust before joining System C in 2020. Claire is also with NHS professionals Nursing bank, which helps her keep up to date with current practice on the ‘shop floor’. Her proudest clinical digital achievement is developing care plans as first of type with over 150 nurses involved in its creation. She also led the remote go live of CareFlow EPR and Nurse Care Planning during the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020. The Care Planning project was shortlisted for both the Nursing Times and Health Service Journal (HSJ) awards and was in the top three with the Nursing times under the ‘Innovation in Digital Nursing’ award category. At System C, Claire’s specialist areas are Care Planning and Clinical Narrative.

Jon Shaw 300px

Jon Shaw - Clinical Services Director

Jon worked as a doctor for 12 years in Birmingham, Bristol, Northwest Pakistan, and Australia and is also a software programmer and entrepreneur. He qualified and worked as a surgeon before co-founding the healthcare software company Careflow Connect Ltd. As a digital health start up, Careflow set the bar by being one of the first healthcare applications in the world to be fully cloud based in 2011, delivering encrypted mobile messaging in 2012 and then integrating its cloud and mobile technology with EMR and lab systems in 2013. Jon remained connected to the NHS, working as an Emergency Physician at the University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust, whilst growing the company. Careflow was acquired by System C in 2016. As the director of clinical strategy & design at System C Jon is responsible for ensuring our products are designed with the clinical end-user in mind and leverage the latest digital technologies.

Jonathan Bloor

Jonathan Bloor - Medical Director

Jonathan is the medical director at System C. He qualified in medicine from Bristol University in 2000 and became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2005. He worked as a General Surgeon at the Bristol Royal Infirmary for 10 years and at the same time co-founded CareFlow Connect with fellow surgeon Jon Shaw. He has published and presented work internationally on the importance of technology to support communication and care coordination in healthcare. He sits on the Digital Health Advisory Board and Tech UK Health and Social Care Council and is a member of the UK Faculty of Clinical Informatics. As well as his role as System C Medical Director, Jonathan also advises a number of Digital Health start ups.

Ruth Palmer

Ruth Palmer - Account Executive

Ruth qualified as a registered general nurse and registered midwife specialising in perinatal and neonatal care within the NHS. She worked with a Johnson and Johnson company for 15 years supporting nurses and clinicians in the operating theatres across the UK. Ruth was instrumental in establishing suture training workshops for midwives, nurses and doctors and later coordinated and facilitated the Basic Surgical Skills Course (BSSC) for surgeons, mandated by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Glasgow and England across the UK. With System C, Ruth is still able to apply her passion for healthcare excellence working as a sales executive and account manager - enabling the company to continue with implementing its clinical products for improved patient care. For her, seeing a challenge that leads to the adoption of a digital solution, delivering real value to end users whilst positively impacting patient care is enormously rewarding. Ruth looks after a number of System C’s EPR customer sites and is a member of the Maternity User Group.

Jacqueline Davis

Jacqueline Davis - Chief Nursing Informatics Officer

Jacqueline has been a registered nurse for over 30 years, predominantly in the NHS. Jacqueline’s most recent NHS roles were as head of nursing for surgery and surgical specialities and corporate head of nursing for practice and professional development. Jacqueline's experience includes working in various acute healthcare organisations and departments including Theatres, ICU, workforce development, clinical education, advanced practitioner and as a ward sister. Moving into healthcare technology industry in 2014, Jacqueline has supported the NHS organisations across the country to plan, deploy, and adopt System C’s clinical digital solutions, with a focus on supporting clinicians move to a digital space and make digital transformation possible. Jacqueline has also set-up and leads the System C Clinical Digital Leads Network (CDLN) and works alongside the Florence Nightingale Foundation supporting the Early Digital Healthcare Leadership Programme which provides a leadership development opportunity tor Nurses, Midwives and AHPs.

Debbie France

Debbie France - Director of Patient Safety

Debbie worked as a Registered General Nurse within the NHS for over 22 years gaining clinical experience in areas such as Stroke Rehabilitation, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Paediatrics, and Theatres. She holds a BSc (hons) degree in nursing. After completing her master’s, Debbie moved from clinical practice to digital healthcare - at first as a Systems Trainer then to clinical safety, where she worked for 12 years supporting various patient and clinical safety related roles. She has recently undertaken a series of training courses with the British Standards Institute on medical devices as part of her safety role. Debbie says she is proud to work for a company who rates the safety of patients as its highest priority.

Maisie Hodgson

Maisie Hodgson - Product Co-ordinator

Maisie worked in the NHS and private sector as a Theatre (scrub) nurse, specialising in urology, trauma and emergency surgery for 5 years. Her most enjoyable project during this time was assisting in the formation of a learning and development program for nurses joining a perioperative team for the first time. Teaching and encouraging change and development is something she loves doing. Maisie joined System C as a clinical implementation specialist and team lead for CareFlow Vitals, Connect and Workspace and soon after moved on to be the product owner for Connect and Workspace. She strongly feels her clinical experience supports her in the design and development of Connect and Workspace. She’s very passionate about these solutions due to the potential they have to transform patient care by surfacing essential clinical information through various integrations.
